Looking across the valley below Whitehall, from a field belonging to Renita and John Pearce of Piippacott. This is a memory of a day when I visited them last November. It was grey, and drizzling some of the time, yet I still remember being stunned by the magnificence of the views across this lonely range of hills. This painting is an oil, on board,  28 x 13 ins, and not quite as dark as it appear in the photograph. The dog came on the walk with us.
